About Cooking with Betty
I’m Betty, the cook behind Cooking with Betty. I live in San Francisco, California, and I’m a mom of three awesome kids. My kitchen is noisy, warm, and always smells like butter and garlic.
My food story
Memory #1: When I was little, I stood on a chair to help my mom stir a big pot of chicken noodle soup. The windows fogged up, the spoon felt heavy, and I spilled a little… but the steam, the thyme, and the soft noodles felt like a hug.
Memory #2: The first thing I baked alone was chocolate chip cookies. I forgot to chill the dough, and it burned on the first tray. We ate the edges with cold milk and laughed. That day taught me patience — and how to set a timer.
Memory #3: After moving to San Francisco, I made garlic butter pasta for new friends in a tiny apartment. We sat on the floor with mismatched bowls. It wasn’t fancy, but it tasted like home.
Memory #4: Now my kids crack eggs and fight over who gets the whisk. We make Friday pizza with too much cheese and Sunday pancakes with extra vanilla. These small rituals are my favorite part of the week.
