Ingredients

  • 4 cod fillets about 5–6 oz each
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Lemon wedges for serving
  • Fresh parsley chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the cod: Start by patting the cod fillets dry with paper towels. This step is important because removing excess moisture helps the fish cook evenly and develop a light, flaky texture in the air fryer. Place the fillets on a plate or cutting board and set aside.
  • Season the fish: In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper until well combined. Using a brush or spoon, gently coat both sides of each cod fillet with the seasoning mixture, making sure the spices are evenly distributed for balanced flavor in every bite.
  • Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes. Preheating helps the cod start cooking immediately, ensuring a tender interior while keeping the outside lightly golden.
  • Cook the cod fillets: Place the seasoned cod fillets in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving a little space between each piece so hot air can circulate properly. Air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping the fillets halfway through cooking. The cod should be opaque, flaky with a fork, and lightly crisp on the edges when done.
  • Finish and serve: Carefully remove the cod fillets from the air fryer and let them rest for 1–2 minutes. This allows the juices to settle and keeps the fish moist. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side for an extra burst of freshness.
