Ingredients

  • 4 tilapia fillets about 5–6 oz each
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Lemon slices for serving
  • Fresh parsley chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the fish: Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels. This step is important because removing excess moisture helps the seasoning stick better and allows the fish to cook evenly in the air fryer without steaming.
  • Make the lemon seasoning: In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, minced garlic, paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until the marinade looks smooth and slightly glossy, and you can smell the fresh lemon and garlic.
  • Season the tilapia: Place the tilapia fillets on a plate or shallow dish. Brush or spoon the lemon mixture evenly over both sides of each fillet, making sure the garlic and spices are well distributed. Let the fish rest for about 5 minutes so the flavors can lightly soak in.
  • Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for about 3 minutes. Lightly spray or brush the air fryer basket with oil to prevent sticking.
  • Cook the tilapia: Arrange the tilapia fillets in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving a little space between each piece for proper air circulation. Air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping gently halfway through, until the fish is opaque, flakes easily with a fork, and has lightly golden edges.
  • Finish and serve: Remove the tilapia carefully from the air fryer and transfer to a serving plate. Top with fresh lemon slices and sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired. Serve immediately while hot for the best texture and flavor.
